Obituary of George Richard Neighbors

Reverend George Richard Neighbors of Nashville, TN when home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the age of 83. A native of Ashville, NC, Reverend Neighbors pastored for twenty-two years in the Church of the Nazarene, servicing churches in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. After his retirement from full time ministry he joined the staff at Trevecca Towers in Nashville. Reverend Neighbors was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Willie Lee Jones Neighbors; brother, Tommy Neighbors; sisters, Gloria Shape, Hattie Lou Miller and Brenda Fowler. Reverend. Neighbors is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Jeannette Fowler Neighbors; sons, Michael Richard (Judy) Neighbors of Covington, VA, Charles B. (Melinda) Neighbors of Clayton, NC and Rodney Neighbors of Brentwood, TN; daughters, Sharon (Richard) Johnson of Bowling Green, KY and Karen (Michael) Jarratt of Nashville, TN; brothers, Autry (Dora) Neighbors, Bobby (Peggy) Neighbors and Jerry Neighbors; sisters, JoAnn (Carrol) Shephard, Claudette Watson all of Ashville, NC; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 4pm in the sanctuary of Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene with visitation from 2pm until service time at 4pm. Dr. Marvin Jones and Dr. Dwight Gunter will officiate. Interment will be on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 10am in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville, TN with military honors.
