HENDERSON, Howard W. Age 77, peacefully joined his Lord and Liz (the love of his life) on March 5, 2021 with his three daughters by his side playing Shanghai Rummy (a card game that he taught them). Preceded in death by parents, Edward "Bill" Rudolph and Hattie Jordan Henderson; wife of 39 years, Elisabeth "Liz" Bridges Henderson; brothers, Charles "Bobby" Henderson; sisters, Marie Adler, Billie Jean Henderson, Mary Catherine Cornell, Shirley Masters and Frances "Bitsy" Shaw. Survived by daughters, Heather (Chris) Neighbours; Hillary (Marshall) Boyd and Haley (Tyler) Wilson; brother, Jerry (Gayle) Henderson; sister, Wanda Smith; grandchildren, Nicholas and Carson Neighbours, Brooklyn and Boston Boyd and Maddox and Avery Wilson. Mr. Henderson was a retired elementary school principal from Metro Nashville Public Schools, where he served at Warner Elementary, Dodson Elementary, Taylor Stratton Elementary, Hull-Jackson Montessori and retired from Neelys Bend Elementary. He was a long time member of the Madison Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and an elder. His dedicated service to educating children extended into Summer Spectacular, Sunday School, Bible Teacher Workshops and Valley View Christian Camp. A special invitation is extended to Mr. Henderson’s former students and teachers to attend this celebration honoring his efforts. Sharing of Memories will be from 3 PM until the service time of 7 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 in the Madison Church of Christ, 106 North Gallatin Road with Dr. Frank Scott and Bro. Buck Dozier officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Members of the Madison High School Alumni Association. Private Entombment, Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Hickory Hills Alzheimer's Special Care Center for the love and care that was given during his stay.
