MARTIN, MARY, age 87, passed away June 30, 2013. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Hugh S. Martin, Jr.; grandson. Johnny Gray Thompson. Survived by sons, Paul (Lori) Martin, Strawberry Plains, TN, Hugh S. Martin, III Nashville, TN; daughters, Kathleen (John) Thompson, Murfreesboro, TN., Mary Cecilia "Ceil" (Terry) Knight, Madison, TN., Bridgette Ilene (Pete) Curtis, Castalian Springs, TN., brother, Peter (Dot) Murphy, Newton Lee Willows, England; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Mary was the first "war bride" of WWII to arrive in Madison, TN. She came here on the Queen Elizabeth on February 14, 1946 and the Tennessean ran a front page story about her. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive visitors Tuesday 5 to 7 p.m. at the residence, 219 Beverly Drive, Madison, TN. A mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 9 a.m. by Father Tommy Joseph at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
