Obituary of Doris Cooper

COOPER, Doris Elaine, age 82, passed away May 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at her residence in Portland, TN after a strong battle with dementia and kidney disease. Doris is preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Tom Cooper; parents, Elmer and Pauline Chappell; brothers, Elmer Chappell, Jr. and Larry Wayne Chappell. Survived by sons, Bill (Mitzi) Cooper, Marty (Lynn) Cooper; grandchildren, Ame (David) Russell, Jeremy Cooper, Seth Cooper, and Sarah Cooper; great-grandchildren, Jasmon and Khalil Russell, Lexi and Bryce Brown; sister, Jean Sands; brothers, John (Annette) Chappell, and Michael Chappell; several nieces and nephews. Doris was a long time resident of Jefferson City, TN prior to returning to the Nashville area in the waning years of life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City for over 40 years. Doris was passionate about gardening, often welcoming visitors in to her cherished back yard garden. She also loved playing bridge with many dear friends over the years. The family will have a private graveside service at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, TN with Reverend Marty Cooper officiating.
