BURNES, Lenna Quenelle Dunn was born in Greeneville, GA on August 28, 1935 to Milton Briscoe Dunn and Frances Noelle Dunn of Stovall, Ga. Quenelle graduated with honors from Greeneville High School, Greeneville, GA in 1952. She graduated from Emory University School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1956. She completed her Master's Degree in nursing education at Emory University in 1958. After her graduation, Quenelle served as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University School of Nursing, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. Quenelle served as a Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University from 1960-1967. At Vanderbilt, Quenelle taught Pediatric Nursing, Medical/Surgical, OB/GYN and Psychiatric Nursing. Later, Quenelle taught at UT-Nashville and Motlow State College in Tullahoma, TN. Quenelle worked as a Staff Nurse at Clover Bottom Development Center and retired from Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute. Quenelle grew up in Trinity Methodist Church, Durand, GA. She was a member of West End Methodist Church Nashville, TN from 1960-1964, Inglewood United Methodist Church of Nashville, TN from 1964-1971 and City Road Chapel United Methodist Church of Madison, TN from 1971-present. Quenelle married Dr. James Edmond Burnes on April 14, 1957. Quenelle is survived by 3 children: Chester Milton (Barbara) Burnes of Madison, TN; Clifford Samuel (Maria) Burnes of Tucson, AZ; and Cynthia Frances Burnes, of Nashville, TN. Quenelle has 3 grandchildren: Chelsea Michelle Burnes Walker of Jasper, GA; Raymond James Burnes of New Bern, NC; and Samuel Francisco Burnes of Tucson, AZ. Friends and family will gather in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20, 2:00pm until time of service at 6:00pm with Rev. Lacrectia Campbell officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Burnes, Chester Burnes, Clifford Burnes, Billy Joe Willis, Joey Willis and Thomas Haynes. Interment on Wednesday, January 21 at Shadow Lawn Cemetery, LaGrange GA at 2:00pm eastern standard time.
