Louie C. Purcell died peacefully in the loving care of his family, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the age of 91. Born in Hermitage Springs, TN and raised in Red Boiling Springs, TN, Louie served in the Army as a decorated Sergeant First Class during WWII and the Korean War. Following his service, Louie spent 36 years at DuPont in a variety of roles and departments. Louie is preceded in death by parents, Willard and Flossie Purcell; brothers, Charles and Roy; son, Bobby. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 68 years, Thelma Mae Purcell; daughter, Melissa Johnson (Jerry); son, Jim Purcell (Joyce); eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wilma Browning, Lillian Spivey, Raymond and Carlos Purcell; along with many nieces and nephews. The strong, caring patriarch of a family forever blessed by his sacrifices and contributions, Louie is remembered as one of the last greats from the Greatest Generation. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2015, 2:00pm until 6:00pm in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service on Monday, June 1, 2015, 2:00pm at the Anderson Cemetery in Lafayette, TN. MADISON FUNERAL HOME 615-868-9020 www.madisonfuneralhome.net
