Obituary of Ryan Jay Styck

Ryan Jay Styck, age 39, September 9, 2022. Ryan was born on September 25, 1982. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Orville and Florence Styck, and Ernest and Rosemary Curtis. Ryan is survived by his parents Vickie Jo and Wayne George Styck of Chillicothe, IL., his brother Michael L. Styck of Chillicothe, IL., his sister Carla M. McManus (Joseph) of Naperville, IL., his two nieces Ciara McManus (Dan Blass) and Maura McManus, and his nephew Cole McManus. Also, surviving is his faithful and beloved pet "Sailor". Ryan attended Illinois Valley Central High School, in Chillicothe, IL, graduating in 2001. While in high school, Ryan enjoyed playing trombone and was involved in jazz, marching, and concert band. He was also in many plays and ran cross country. In 2005, Ryan graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in the music business. At ISU, Ryan continued playing trombone, was in the trombone choir, and was a proud member of the Big Red Marching Machine all 4 years. Upon graduation from ISU, Ryan worked for the Boy Scouts of America. In 2010, he earned a master’s degree from ISU in Educational Administration. Ryan started his beloved hospitality career with Embassy Suites in East Peoria, moved to Chicago in 2014 with Marriott International, and, in 2016, he moved to Nashville and began working at the Wildhorse Saloon. He started work at Ole Red Nashville in late 2018, where he proudly became senior restaurant manager this year. His love and respect for his team and staff shined brightly. Ryan always enjoyed running as exercise. He proudly ran the Bix 7-mile race in Davenport, IA for 10 years in a row and he completed the Chicago Marathon in 2008. Ryan greatly enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. One of his favorite annual trips was joining his lifelong friend, Doug, and his family at Kentucky Lake for several days of boating and fun in the sun. Ryan had a love for sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. After he moved to Nashville, he quickly fell in love with the Titans and the Predators and was passionately excited to root on the new Nashville Soccer Club. Ryan was a loving dog dad to Sailor the Schipperke puppy. Ryan was an extraordinary son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and colleague who left enduring footprints on the hearts of everyone he touched. He had a generous, joyful, and caring spirit and was loved by so many. He will be deeply missed. Fly high, Ryan. Your light and love will continue to shine brightly within each of those who had the honor of knowing and loving you.
